Following highly successful 14’ and 15’ editions, the accelerator built by Business France and Bpifrance to boost the presence of French startups in the U.S. extends its offer from Silicon Valley to New York City while doubling the amount of participating companies.
ubi i/o 16’ will accompany 18 startups for 10 weeks, from April 18th – June 24th. Ten of them will be incubated in San Francisco while the other 8 will be based in New York City immersing themselves in the Silicon Alley ecosystem. At the end of the 10 weeks, one of the participating startup will be chosen by Bpifrance, Partech Ventures and Idinvest Partners to receive $1M in funding.
“Thanks to its enriched program, ubi i/o’s 3rd edition will allow 18 French startups to quickly go global by stepping in the U.S, an essential step for any Tech company” says Paul-Francois Fournier, Executive Director of Innovation @Bpifrance
According to Stéphane Alisse, Director of Business France’s Tech & Services department in North America and of the ubi i/o program, “Following two successful editions and 14 startups who incorporated in the U.S, we wanted to go even further in our offer and open it to new domains. ubi i/o is an actual commando training for those companies. The acceleration program puts them in the best conditions to set up their U.S. strategy, execute it, and become a reference in the World’s most dynamic and competitive ecosystem.”
It’s a fact, after the first two editions, 14 out of 16 startups opened U.S offices and started generating revenue. Several of them raised funds consequently due to the program, for a total of $40M. ubi i/o allowed them to accomplish in 10 weeks what would have taken them 10 months:
- Develop a marketing strategy tailored to the American Market
- Become a well-known player within their local ecosystem
- Close new business deals
- Raise funds
- Expedite their U.S. establishment
The extension of the program to the East Coast gives a more comprehensive offer to the startups who see the U.S. market as the core of their global strategy and plan on establishing American offices quickly.
Starting today until January 22nd 2016, don’t hesitate and apply to ubi i/o 2016! A jury composed of renown VCs and entrepreneurs from NYC and Silicon Valley will handpick the 18 participating startups.
Each startup will be evaluated based on the consistency of their U.S project, their product, current references and the ability to finance and sustain their U.S development.
For the alumni of the 14’ and 15’ editions, ubi i/o was a turning point throughout their international development.
According to Alexandre Yérémian, CEO & Co-founder @Jarvis “For the fans of Back to the Future, episode 2 is catapulting us into the future. It’s the same thing with ubi i/o. We gained an incredible amount of time once we questioned ourselves, revised our internal organization, our commercial processes and our marketing approach.”
For Sétaphane Saad, Chief Strategic Alliances Officer & Co-founder @Pradeo “In my opinion, ubi i/o is the best way for a French startup to quickly penetrate the American market, going hand in hand with the global ecosystem since most major U.S corporations are already present on all continents. Through ubi i/o, Business France and their consultants will give you all the necessary tools to adapt your structure from a legal, administrative, financial, marketing and commercial standpoints. “
