Speech recognition startup Wit.ai acquired by Facebook

ubi i/o is proud to announce another great news from its network: Wit.ai has been acquired by Facebook for an unknown amount on January 5th 2015. It is a huge success story for the speech recognition startup that previously raised $3 million during a seed round led in October.

Wit.ai is a Y Combinator-backed startup founded 18 months ago. They provide a speech-to-text API to app developers, which enable them to build voice-activated interfaces. Their platform already gathers 6,000 developers.

While keeping its platform free and open to everyone, Wit.ai as a part of Facebook will likely improve its voice-to-text input for Messenger, offer voice control development tools within Facebook’s Parse development platform, and even add voice navigation functionalities to the Facebook app.

Congratulations to Alex Lebrun (ubi i/o mentor) and to all his team @Wit.ai
