ubi i/o 2016: Day Five, New York opening night

Back in the Big Apple, our CEOs received some insights on how to establish relationships with large American accounts. Olivier Coste, CEO & Founder @Videodesk, and Louis-David Mangin, CEO & Co-founder @ClarityAd were our guest speakers.

These two seasoned businessmen went in details on how to approach large corporations, and also how to obtain a “yes” in tough negotiation situations. More importantly, the goal here is to establish a long lasting relationship that will benefit both parties.

Shortly after the workshop, everyone came back to Alley NYC where some of our entrepreneurs had meetings with their mentors or potential partners, while others went back to practicing their pitch before the our grand opening event – VIP Opening Night.

At 4:30pm, the founders and their teams were already gathered on the Rooftop bar of the Hugo Hotel. Interviewed one after the other, the CEOs had the chance to share their thoughts & perspectives on the first days of the acceleration program before giving their first pitch.

At 6.30pm, guests made their appearance and had the opportunity to meet & greet with our entrepreneurs while enjoying prosecco, wine & hors d’oeuvres.

Florence Tison, Head of Tech & Services for the East coast @Business France, opened the evening with an introductory speech. Our partner Bpifrance then took over the stage to talk about their relentless efforts to push forward the French entrepreneurial ecosystem. Soon after that, it was show time for our New York based startups as our 8 CEOs delivered their highly anticipated pitches.

The night ended with casual networking, the perfect opportunity to meet with potential partners, clients and investors.

Back in San Francisco, our 10 startups are primarily focused on securing new clientele. The pace of the day is dictated by the different meetings with prospects, mentors and partners.

Philips invited Sevenhugs’ CEO over to their HQ to present their Smart Remote Control at the very first Lighting loT meetup. Simon Tchedikian demoed how you to control the Hue lightbulb with their device. Needless to say the crowd was very impressed and this was the perfect opportunity to showcase one of Sevenhug’s many use cases.

OpenIO presented their technology at BayLISA, the premiere system administration user group in Silicon Valley. The crowd was composed of object storage experts who were quite intrigued in learning more about OpenIO’s technology. A promising sign for our founders!

BulldozAIR’s team has had the opportunity to travel all around Silicon Valley to demo their Visual Task Management platform to some of the biggest construction companies in the U.S. An introductory demo is the first step towards acquiring new clients, now it’s time to close some deals. More to come in our next blog post, stay tuned !
